WEEKEND GETAWAY IN BIMINI AT RESORTS WORLD BIMINI

Hello Hello! From my last post I shared with you guys we had travel plans for our anniversary and promised to share the details once we got back so here I am! Lol

If you don’t follow me on Instagram (which you definitely should lol) you would already know that we went to Bimini, Bahamas. We were there for the weekend, from Friday morning to Sunday evening, which I thoroughly appreciated, because we got to enjoy the maximum time of our stay. Let’s get into the details shall we!

How to get there

Getting to Bimini is super easy, just about 60 miles away from Miami. You have the option of either taking the ferry or seaplane (takes 30 minutes to get there), both fun options. We opted for the ferry, as it was the most affordable option, we boarded in Port Everglades. The ride was just under 2 hours. Once you arrive at the port, you go through immigration, which was relatively quick compared to going through the hustle and bustle of a regular airport. While in line you can see the resort and get a great look at the ocean while listening to the waves crashing as the ferry docks exactly on a beach, talk about a warm welcome! After going through immigration, a tram awaits to drop you at the resort.

2 things to note:

-1 Be sure to arrive on time! Upon booking they will send you the arrival time, make sure to arrive at the given time, while factoring in traffic and parking, because they will deny you access to board the ferry.

-2  If you do decide to choose the ferry to get there and your return is in the evening be ready for lots of turbulence. With the wind, waves are naturally stronger at night and the ferry moves relatively fast and does not stop. Therefore not the ideal situation if you get seasick easily. People were literally out on the deck sick. Can’t say I didn’t warn you.

Where we stayed

We stayed at the Resorts World Bimini , honestly this resort was the main selling point in us going. I discovered the World Resorts Bimini through a co-worker who went there herself and she raved about it and gladly shared the information. We were getting ready to drop the idea of a vacation this year, between not having enough vacation days at my job and not being able to find something affordable for just the weekend we were ready to stay in this time around. After the first look at the website, I immediately called my husband to share that I’d finally found a place for us to go. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious rooms beautiful views , 3 pools and 4 restaurants. I was very surprised that a spot like that was not more popular.

Plenty of cute seating areas throughout the hotel!

Where we ate

Bimini is a small island, so much that there’s only one main road traveling north and south of the island. it almost feels like a strip. With that being said there’s a handful of restaurants and bars actually owned by the locals and it is such a treat! We had breakfast on day 2 at My 3 Daughters, which was delicious. Hubs ordered the traditional breakfast which is stew fish and grits or Bimini bread. Back home in Haiti, a similar version of this is also a popular breakfast or lunch, so it was nice having something that reminded us of home. We then tried Edith Pizza, as you guessed it, they serve pizza, but their dough is kinda bread like which was an interesting tasty twist. Besides the local spots, we had the rest of our meals at the hotel. I totally recommend the burger at Hemingway’s, the fries well seasoned and crispy.

Getting Around

As I mentioned, Bimini isn’t that big an island. Therefore you can use a golf cart, that you can rent at the hotel concierge desk or from other locals. It’s super fun! Driving in the open air with the wind blowing on your face, really relaxes and puts you in the vaca island vibes!

What to do

We were only there for the weekend so we focused on just relaxing and connecting as a couple. But there’s plenty of excursions to do. Some main one are to visit the shipwreck and dolphin house. Besides that, there’s Jet skiing, dolphin encounters, kayaking and things of that nature.

Final Thoughts

Going to Bimini was awesome for a quick weekend getaway. Especially with the fact the destination was very close and affordable. So if you are in search of something similar with family, friends, significant others, it will be perfect!
