The Wedding Series: Finding a Theme

Deciding on a theme is one the most important things to do in starting your wedding planning journey. I really can’t stress it enough because it is from your theme that you will be able to know what to go after and what to steer away from to avoid confusion.

So what is a theme? How do you even find one? What if you have 2 different themes, can you mix them up? How many themes is too much?

I’m answering all of that in today’s post!

I can explain theme as the different elements in your wedding, coming together that will look cohesive, not to be confused with “matchy” , the elements you choose that will make everything about your wedding, from your decor, venue, cake, attire, seemingly flow and most importantly making it true to you!!

You can find your theme by first taking a look into your relationship. Where did you meet? Your first date? Your favorite activity to do as a couple? Taking a peek at these things will give you hints on details you should add to your big day. Also, mostly for the bride that is, go back to your daydreams on becoming a bride. What is the thing or things that stuck with you year after year? Pick a couple of keywords that you envision for your wedding and build your theme around that. These words for me were:

Timeless, elegant, and sophisticated.

My husband and I we had different visions. He always wanted a beachfront wedding and I always dreamed of walking down the aisle in garden filled with flowers! So what did we do? Combined them! When I searched for wedding venues, I checked waterfront and garden. I’ll admit, it was a piece of work. But when you know what you are looking for, it’s that much easier to make happen. I only booked venue tours at waterfront resorts with terrace like spaces that I planned on adorning with flowers.

Side note: I have to say, venue tours was the most fun part of wedding planning for me, I love visiting new places, so every time I had the opportunity to actually go see somewhere that I was only seeing in pictures, I was super excited!

When we came across our venue we knew right away that it was the one. We didn’t even have to speak before hand, we just took a quick look at each other and agreed that we were going to cancel our last venue tour. I was able to know that this venue was the right one for us because it embodied all the keywords I had in mind for the Big day.

When we came with our family to take a second look

We didn’t plan to match that day, I swear! LOL

One thing I picked up from closely watching what wedding planning consisted of was that all the details of the wedding that was planned were connected. For example, hardware and accent colors were kept the same, but with personal touches from the couple.

When your guest to walk in on your wedding, the desired reaction should be “WOW this is totally so and so”

Other great ways to help you find a theme can be to start Pinterest boards(as if you haven’t already) if you did start one , start over by being intentional about the pictures you decide to pin because it’s your actual wedding now not a bunch of random picture you like, my actual wedding Pinterest board my random one look completely different, and don’t forget to put those boards in private so none of your guest see it.

I had a board for my colors, my dress, bridesmaids, seating layout, makeup and hairstyle and floral arrangements.

I didn’t have to lift a finger when it came to the groom and groomsmen. My big brother had it all covered! I just gave him the colors I wanted and he ran with it. Literally! Hahaha

Taking a wedding style quiz is also very helpful, TheKnot.com has a great one you can use that will give you great results on what your wedding theme should be. I advise you download the app and sign up with TheKnot.com. When planning your big day, I realized that much of making it happen will come from your gut feeling and that, my friend, never fails. Remember, this is your big day as a couple, so trust yourself and you’ll surely have the wedding of your dreams!

I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made
good content as you did, the web will be a lot more
useful than ever before. fodboldtrøjer DeanneroU maglie calcio bambino MyrnaReut
