So it goes without saying that shaking the baby is not easy for a mom. Especially in my case because I already was trying to lose weight before getting pregnant. So a little over a year later here I was starting my first workout ever since giving birth and looking for something that resembled a balanced diet.
Why did I decide to do a 5-day juice cleanse?
The short answer is that nothing else was working that fit my lifestyle and I wanted to incorporate greens in my diet. Yummy food has my heart but having a healthier diet is something that I always wanted to make a priority.
I’m also such a picky eater, my fruits and veggies intake was almost nonexistent. So I felt like besides the weight management aspect, getting a boost of nutrients would’ve been super beneficial to me. I was doing things like subscribing to a meal service during the week but working out constantly is just not something that is a priority for me in this season of my life.
Finally admitting to that was so liberating, being able to identify your priorities clears your path to know exactly what to go after.
Another reason was to jumpstart this weight management /healthier journey. If there’s anything about me to know is that I’m impatient and I thrive more when I see things moving!
Finally I wanted to continue showing myself that I was capable of being consistent and commit to a goal.
So I set it out, did my research and picked Raw organics for juicing service.
Why would I recommend Raw Generation?
There’s so many juicing companies out there, it can be overwhelming. I was satisfied with Raw Generation because of:
Ease, the website was simple to navigate and their method was pretty simple too. You get 6 juices and you drink them as you get hungry. There wasn’t any specific order to drink the juices in while some other companies had specific schedules and juice to drink.
Pricing, compared to other companies I came across, Raw Organics was the most affordable and offered multiple juicing options to choose from.
Fast delivery, I ordered on April 7 and received the box on April 9 and that was with their regular shipping process!
How did it go?
The thought of only drinking juice for 5 days straight is definitely daunting but it’s not as impossible as I thought it would be.
The hard part is more on the mental side, in order to do this I had to be all in. I didn’t have anything else to rely on except for the fact that I knew I had to show up for myself in those moments where I wanted to get a bite of something. It slowly became more about fueling my body and eating for taste.
It also felt so nice that I didn’t have to think about what I was going to eat throughout the day, I just needed to drink my juice and that was it. work days to come home and know I didn’t have to think about it and just needed to drink
I felt lighter too and lost about 8 lbs. I gained back 2 more pounds since finishing the cleanse but now I’m aware how certain foods affect my body. I know what causes my bloating and swelling and water retention. I feel a little bit more control of my body whereas before I felt like I was just throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping it sticks!
Some tips: To help with alleviating the raw taste of the juices I drank them ice cold and with a straw. Also my favorite flavors were the sweet roots, citrus carrot and the cool greens. They were the much better tasting ones and kept me fuller longer.
Would I do it again?
Now here is the big question, will I do this again?
In short, probably. But not a 5-day, maybe 2 or 3 days every couple of months or before a trip or special occasion.
I also plan to incorporate green juices as a regular part of my diet to help me keep what resembles a balanced diet.
Okay so that was my 5-day juice cleanse experience!
