How to “get over” the holiday season

Hello guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season!

Mine was pretty packed I must say, we started early December with my parents’ anniversary, my sister graduated from college, then we threw a ” Fritay” get together for my husband , We had some friends over and watched Bird Box during their stay with us (shooketh. That’s all I’ll say), and another party for my mom’s birthday. Finally I started New year’s eve with a concert at church, after we caught a late night dinner with family, then headed to our friends’ party ,which I thought was supposed to be super chill, but we ended up partying all night and got back home at like 5 Am ! Needless to say, my plate was full but what an amazing time it was!

Jump starting back to work and trying to get back into normal again, I wasn’t really present on social media these past few weeks, so I wanted to come on here to wish you all an official happy new year and have a chat on what I’m doing to get over the post-holiday season, let’s get on it shall we!

I can’t be the only one who feels nostalgic after the holidays, like what are we supposed to do with our lives now?? No more holiday parties, no more trips to see Christmas lights, Christmas movies and songs seem out of place, suddenly you realize that all of that holiday food you had is really starting to sink in, for real! It is almost sad… This feeling of nostalgia can come with a drag to our feet but we can certainly get through it.

What works best is to shift your focus on other things that are important to you or that you want to change. Usually, most of us start working on New Years’ resolution, although I don’t 100 % believe in those, I’ll admit that they do help in not looking back at what was and looking forward to what can be.

As for me, I’m focusing on repairing the damage that I have put my skin and body through this holiday season!

Sigh, with all of the events, gatherings and ultimately getting back home super late, I’ll be the first one to confess that some nights I didn’t remove my makeup the way I should have, and it started to actually show *gasps while clenching chest* so I’m getting back to giving my skin some TLC. Currently, I’m using  Health and Beauty Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, I was introduced to it by my sister. Let me tell you: this baby works wonders! And you can feel it WORKING as it tingles after you apply it. I love that about it! A great tip for greater results is to add a teaspoon or two of apple cider vinegar to really get in those pores to clean them out! Another tip, to prevent the feeling of dryness, is to add about a teaspoon of coconut oil to the mixture. After rising it off your skin will feel super clean and you will see results after a couple of uses. But be careful and do a swatch test to make sure you don’t have any reactions before trying it out.

Doing a strong clay mask like this inevitably can dry your skin out, so I use my favorite night moisturizer of all time, The Origins drink up intensive overnight mask. I love this product, It gives instant results! I have dry combo skin, so this is heaven sent for after the clay mask takes away the moisture away and best of all a bit goes a long way!

I’m seeing some nice progressive results, so my skin should be back to normal in no time. I will add that I’ve been laying off putting on makeup this week to let my skin breathe.

Now like I said earlier the post-holiday weight is no joke! I for sure gained a few unwanted pounds, so this week I have been drinking the Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move tea, and it has been helping in not feeling so bloated all the time. I’m kicking it up a notch next week by starting this month-long challenge to help me get back on track. I’ll high five myself on that one! LOL

On another note, looking forward to the year ahead by doing some planning and vision board-ing can definitely help you get out of that holiday funk! I’m currently brainstorming on blog post ideas and defining what my vision is for this platform. I am also looking forward to my husband and I’s first anniversary as husband and wife!

Indulging in some delicacies, relaxing, and pampering, can be a good idea to reboot ourselves or to simply enjoy the moment. For me, that is evenings where I make either one of 3 my favorite hot drinks (sweet Hot Cocoa, my chai tea milk , or hot milk with malt powder) and curl up the couch or my bed to watch a nice movie.

Following either of these tips, I believe can help you get out of that post-holiday funk and give you a great start of 2019,  try them and see.

Are there certain things that you do to get out of that funk? Please do share those with me in the comments!

Til’ the next blog post guys and again HAPPY NEW YEAR, I wish you a wonderful, prosperous 2019!!!
